Wilmington Hotels, Delaware

There are plenty of great Wilmington hotels to choose from, and when you're in Delaware's largest city, you'll also find no shortage of things to do. This is a great city to visit, boasting wonderful restaurants and museums, and there is certainly no lack of interesting destinations within a short car ride away. Philadelphia, for example, is just to the north of Wilmington, and you can enjoy Brandywine Valley attractions while staying here, such as the Hagley Museum and Library. Many hotels in Wilmington Delaware cater to business travelers during the weekdays, and you can often find discounts as such on the weekends. Some of the Wilmington hotels even offer package deals that can include admission to some of the area's top attractions. Be sure to consider the suburbs here, where some of the best Wilmington hotels can be found. The following are some Wilmington lodging suggestions that you might consider. Just 7 miles south of Wilmington, the New Castle hotels are also worth considering if you are visiting the area.

The Hotel du Pont is certainly the finest of all hotels in Wilmington Delaware. Known throughout the state, it's a Delaware lodging landmark, and its ornate decor makes it a most coveted Wilmington address. The rates here are lofty, but it's certainly worth the experience if you can swing it. From the moment you enter the opulent lobby here, you know you're in for a luxurious affair. There's some 217 exquisite rooms here, spread over 12 charming floors. A high level of service is to be expected, and when dining at the hotel's stately Christina Room, you can eyeball the priceless Wyeth paintings that adorn the walls. Found downtown, you're ideally situated for historical tours of Wilmington, and business travelers will certainly appreciate the hotel's Conference Center. You can choose an oversized guest room here, or opt for an even bigger suite. Either way you go, you can expect fine linens throughout, 24-hour room service, and spectacular bathrooms. Complimentary toiletries, a separate sitting area, and a swivel TV component are other featured amenities, and you can bank on having all the basics covered. There are an array of hotel facilities here, including a second restaurant, and a shopping arcade, and guests can access the nearby du Pont Country Club Golf Course. There's too much to list here. Suffice it to say, if you're shooting for the stars when choosing hotels in Wilmington Delaware, the Hotel du Pont is your ideal fit.

If the aforementioned hotel is a bit out of your range, you might opt for the Homewood Suites Hotel, which is owned and operated by the Hilton corporation. Found at 350 Rocky Run Parkway, just off of I-95 in the suburbs, it's easy to get downtown in a jiffy, and you're well-based to visit various area attractions. A hearty breakfast is included in the generally moderate rates here, and since all rooms here are suites, you'll have plenty of space to unwind. Each unit features a full kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, as well as separate sitting areas. Dataports, telephones, and cable TV are also standard, as is a hair dryer, an iron, and extra-comfortable beds. On weekdays, the free Manager's Reception offers appetizers and beverages, and there are plenty of restaurants you can hit close by. A nice pool helps to make the Homewood Suites Brandywine Valley Hotel a considerable candidate among the Wilmington hotels. Many convenient services help you to feel more comfortable during your stay, and you can arrange fun activities, like hiking and horseback riding

If you are set on staying downtown, a nice option to consider for downtown Wilmington lodging is the moderately-priced Sheraton Suites Hotel. The units here are all spacious suites, featuring separate bedrooms and living areas. A large screen TV, a nice work desk and a suitable wet bar are a few in-room amenities, and the beds here are about as comfy as you could want. The hotel restaurant serves up some nice dishes worth sampling, and service is something the staff pays attention to throughout. Complimentary guest water bottles are a nice touch, and if you are bringing a dog, the hotel can set up a bed and such for your canine friend. If you're here on Tuesday, you can enjoy a complimentary guest reception that even features live music. There is a nice indoor pool here, as well as a good health club and sauna, should you want to destress a bit. Other guest amenities include high-speed internet access, a coffee maker and an in-room 2-line phone.

If cheap hotels Wilmington options are what you are looking for, you will find a pretty good array of motels and chain brand hotels that offer a good room at a good price. Found just a mile north of I-95 in the suburbs, the Best Western Brandywine Inn is a good place to shack up for a night or more. Free parking and a simple continental breakfast are included in the agreeable rates, and though this is a motor lodge, once you're in your room, you might be surprised at how nice it is. Don't expect opulence, but do expect amenities that you might assume you'd have to pay more for. You can move up to a Winterthur Suite if you want a taste of luxury, and it is quite elegant, indeed. The great location of the BW Brandywine Inn is one of its prime attributes. It's ideal for tours of the Brandywine Valley, and even business travelers will find it to be a pretty nice fit. There is a health club here, as well as an outdoor pool and sauna, and in-room amenities include an iron and hair dryer, a coffee maker, a microwave, a fridge, cable TV, a DVD player and air-conditioning. For the price, it's hard to find another Wilmington lodging option to match this motor inn.
